Now, let’s fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when I was sitting in Annie’s office. I explained to her that even when I have the opportunity to exercise, I often ask myself, “What is the point?” In my mind, it wasn’t going to help me lose weight. I would have to go back to the gym 3+ hours a day and starve myself if I wanted to lose weight—which please note, this is COMPLETELY irrational thinking. Then, Annie asked me a question that stopped me and my excuses in our tracks. She asked, “Why does there have to be a point?”
My husband, being the amazing man that he is, is now training me. I’ll be the first to admit that I a terrible client. I would not want to train me. He has been running with me and helping me to prepare for my Tough Mudder Half next year. He pushes me to work harder, so last week was a challenge. Dan is in the Cities with his son and some friends at a concert, so I had to run by myself. I am elated to say that I completed a 5K (3.1 miles) in just under 50 minutes! WOOT WOOT! As I was running, I was basically writing this post in my head. 😊 But there were also some tips I wanted to pass along for those who may be struggling to get their butt in gear.
